A good groomer will hesitate in doing this even upon request. I was once told by my vet (for Sabu) and now the groomer (for Julie). I don't know quite how to to explain it, I'll try. If their anal glands are expressed unnecessarily, then they'll need to be expressed more often. I was told you can tell when the anal glands are ready to be expressed when you see them scooting on the floor.
