I've been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina for almost a year now with my boyfriend and we've decided to move to Miami in August. We got a little yorkie in March and he will be coming with me first to visit family in Ohio. I confirmed him, in-cabin, on Delta. The dimensions they gave me for under the seat were 10" x 12" x 9". There is no way my Sushi would fit in there. He weighs about 3.4 kg/7.5 lbs and he's about 9 inches tall from the shoulders down and 16 inches long from neck to the base of the tail. He's a pretty big yorkie but according to those measurements I figure he will fit into a medium sized Sherpa bag, which I have ordered. I called the airline back and actually made up the measurement of the carrier I will be using. I've been doing a lot of research and it seems that the airline gives you measurements WAY smaller than what can actually go under there. Also, I hear that many airlines don't even check the actual bag when you show up to check in. So, I'm taking a risk, but if something goes wrong and they don't let him on, we will make arrangements for shipping which will be AWFUL so let's hope it doesn't come to that.
