I use something similar for my new puppy. My other pups eat from saucers & shallow dishes, but she can make a real mess when she steps in the food bowl Luckily, she isn't picky about what she eats out of & that elevated feeder is perfect for her. She's tiny, 2.5 lbs, and she can handle the elevation just fine.
