I wash all of my toys once a week. Sometimes I see them on a piddle pad & I get creeped out about them playing with things that might smell like pee. I remove any squeakies & throw them in the washer on gentle cycle. I also give their rubber toys a bath in the kitchen sink once a week. It's amazing how much crud gets stuck in the little crevices of those things! I've been wondering if they'd do okay in the dishwasher. I might throw one of them in next time I run a load to see how it survives a dishwasher cycle.
Btw, I'm like you & feel better about washing anything before I use it. I used to work at Bloomgdale's, so I know what happens to those clothes before you buy them. I imagine that toys go through the same thing. Personally, I wouldn't put new clothes next to my skin...or want my puppies to put toys in their mouths before I'm sure they're clean.
