Mandie will NOT eat or drink out of a stainless bowl or a bowl that her ears touch. I learned this early on. I started feeding her in a shallow WIDE ceramic bowl. I have a huge water-jug-filling bowl for both my dogs to share. Hard to explain it but trust me...no stainless and no ears touching.
I think it freaks them out to see their reflection. And it definitely bothers Mandie to feel her ears touching. Oh! Come to think of it - when I recently changed my big boy's bowls, he wouldn't use the big, deep stainless ones that came with it. I had to start using those same ceramic wide mouth bowls for him. I think his ears touched on the new bowls versus the old, smaller ones.
