Agree with brit regarding titers. My vets haven't believed in titers. I've opted to vaccinate for rabies. My 12 year olds had it this year. I didn't continue dhpp for them. I did get it for the younger dogs. I've luckily not had anyone have a reaction to anything but if I did, I don't think I would continue. My state doesn't have a medical waiver for rabies and will quarantine a dog in the shelter for a bite even if the vet gets involved. It's ridiculous since bats are the most likely carriers of rabies in my area and bats carry the rabies strain that is most transmittable to humans. But they still will quarantine any dog not up to date on rabies even when that dog has had a lifelong vaccination history. My vet told me about a dog with a severe anxiety disorder that had to be quarantined and they did not allow her to quarantine in her home. Poor thing had to go to a shelter. If the dog has a rabies tag that's current it can be quarantined at home. It scares me but I don't think I'll do rabies in 15 year olds if they live that long.
