My girl, Dixie, is about 8 and 1/2 months old and just went into heat. I noticed some blood in her crate the other day and it's there again today. She is swollen but seems to be keeping herself clean. My boy yorkie (her brother) is not fixed (appointment scheduled for next month). My question is, should I separate them or will they be fine together? Also, how long will Dixie probably stay in heat and is there anything special I need to do for her?
I've never been through this because all previous female dogs I've had have been fixed before they had a chance to go into heat!!!
