I might add that any pup of mine that exhibits symptoms of pancreatitis is taken to the specialists now. My son's pup died after one day at the regular vet and died four hours after being taken to the EC for fluids for the night. They can turn on a dime...I would rather put the money out and hospitalize from the get go than take that chance. I am very, very afraid of pancreatitis. My George was hospitalized this year...and had he been with my vet (no disrespect to her but they are limited in their ability to deal with some of these things) I believe he would have died. His symptoms had only started that day. I took him to the specialists and they did a full work up..thank God...because he had fluid on his chest and abdomen. The specialist suggested plasma which I approved and it was what turned him around. The criticalist told me a couple of days later that it was a great call and that it had indeed saved his life.
