[Higgin's Mom]

On our local Maine news this morning, they were warning dog owners not to let their dogs eat puffballs, round brown mushrooms that are black inside. There is a bumper crop of all kinds of mushrooms this year due to an above normal rainfall. These puffballs will give them diarrhea, vomiting, and may even cause liver and kidney damage or death. Higgins has already played with them! When he's not playing with acorns (also poisonous) or rocks......So far, so good, but we are restricting his outdoor play a lot more. And then there are the owls! We just do not take him out after dark and encourage him to use a pee pad inside.
