The AKC allows breeders to sell a dog with breeding rights and with "limited registration" which means the offspring will not be allowed to be registered. Good breeders understand that not every purebred dog should be bred. We really have enough pets, and only the best of the best should be bred to improve and preserve the breed. I personally don't advise anyone to get a dog registered with any other registry besides the AKC; you can register a table with other registries and say it's a purebred, and the other registries are considered paper registries. I think the most important thing for you to learn, if you want to become a "good" breeder, is to not breed your pets. You need to buy special breeding dogs that someone has deemed breed worthy. This is why people show, to see if their dog has enough qualities of standard to represent the breed well. These aren’t just physical traits, but personality traits and most importantly, health traits. You could start going to shows, and developing an "eye" for the breed. If you're object is to make money, there are much easier ways to do it, don’t become a breeder! If you really think you have something to offer the breed, then get as much education as possible, before you even think about actually breeding a dog or buying a breeding dog.
