.) When my yorkie was a baby, I kept her out of the grass until she had all her shots.

With respect to the surrounding kids, be careful with your Biewer baby. When we first got our Lucy, last June, I'd take her to my kids' school when I picked them up at the end of the day. ALL the kids wanted to touch, pet, hold the puppy. I didn't permit that - but there was always a circle of kids around me reaching their hands out to touch my new baby's face. It was difficult to control. There was a girl with special needs who just followed me around very closely and would try to grab Lucy's head. I had to swaddle Lucy very closely for her own protection. It was no fun. I stopped bringing Lucy with me.

My Lucy is a sweet sweet yorkie. She doesn't dislike kids -- but she is very cautious around them. She doesn't like anyone she doesn't know to reach out hands toward her face. She doesn't snap or anything, she just moves away quickly. I really can't blame her. How would you like 10 or 20 hands reaching out and suddenly grabbing your head or cheek?? It's truly an invasion of personal space, IMHO.

So, the unusual environment involving a lot of children - who are naturally attracted to an adorable little puppy - may have an impact on your pup.

Also, I've always used a buddy belt. I went to a big chain pet store and got her tag info put on a little metal tag that can be affixed to the buddy belt directly. So there's no need to have anything else attached to the belt.
