She likely heard or smelled something outside she disagreed with and let it be known. I guarantee I have no ghosts and my Yorkies and other dogs have done this many times over the years. They can hear/smell bugs, mice, etc., movement in the walls, cats and other critters outside, scent a stranger walking by the house and lots of things our hearing and smell cannot fathom. And dogs just become more sentient in the dark, just as humans often do only they have more skills for picking up things our ears and nose never can. When Tibbe does this kind of thing he gets praised and a treat. He's a gooooood watch dog. Sounds like you have one too.
