Go to your user profile page and click "User CP" in the left-hand corner. This will bring up a page of the threads you are subscribed to (whenever you start a thread or comment on a thread, you are subscribed). You can unsubscribe to threads you don't want to follow.
Maybe other people will have other suggestions.
