This is a reply to Simon & Teddy's last question .... I know that Benji did this a couple of times when we left him in his crate too long. My boyfriend and I (by taking turns) make sure that one of us wakes up around 6:30 every morning to let him go pee. We make sure that we do not play with him and that he doesn't eat because we want him to know that it is not morning yet. We keep the lights off and then once he is done we put him back in his crate and move him to our bedroom - that way he knows that it is time to still be quiet. It has worked really well. In your case, you may have to get up a bit earlier in the morning or twice a night. Eventually, start spacing the stretching the time out so that they know they cannot go pee until mom or dad release me from my crate. Good luck. I hope this helps.
