I have an 8 year old Yorkie that has suffered year round with allergies...We have finally determined that some foods (chicken) really cause her issues; however, he main allergies are environmental. I have had her tested (VARL Testing) by my Vet and an Allergist, results were the same so she is now receiving injections of the serum they devised based on her highest triggers every 3 weeks. Unfortunately, her biggest concern is human dander!!! Funny but not really! The shots are very simple and the vet gives you instructions on how to administer them, I swear no one hates needles more than I but it really is simple and painless. The serum is good for 6 months and for my 8lb (gained a little weight) girl it is $185. Additionally, she on occasion has flare ups that require steroids and antibiotics due to secondary infection. I also must bathe her with a prescription shampoo, once a week. 1 bottle last all year and is under $20

Does your pup get little blisters etc? If so you may want to talk to your vet about trying Varl testing. It has been a lifesaver for my Mini.

If your pup is just itchy, you may want to try a hypoallergenic, moisturizing shampoo and some coconut oil or other supplement...approved by your vet OR go straight to a nutritionist and start that route.

Did your vet give you a Prescription diet? If not, I would definitely talk to him about that or again, go straight to a vet nutritionist.

There are some things you can give your pup that "shouldn't" hurt, like baby carrots, pieces of apple, and other things. There are many threads here that are packed with info about this.

Keep us posted and don't despair, it will take awhile but managing this problem can and more often than not will happen!
