What a very informative thread My Gage has no hair on his ears, bridge of his nose, nor down his spine....he has plenty of hair around his face, chest, legs, and tail. I posted some of this info last week when he went in to be altered. Vet said it could be related to his thyroid (test was normal) or it could be a testicular tumor and having him altered should correct it. I have to take him back to the vet in March to see if the surgery corrected the problem and his hair is growing. I've found some great information here! I'm not saying this is what Gage has but I can at least call the vet and see if he thinks he might could have this so I can begin treating him. And he does not have any slimy stuff, it's dry in those areas, doesn't seem to really bother him.
