Absolutely! My Bella came from a reputable breeder and I have no intention of forking over money for a DNA purity test because I know she's 100% Yorkie. Shelter dogs are another matter though, and also, unfortunately, some people bought their dogs before they did all of their research. DNA testing might give them peace of mind in those kinds of situations. And even though DNA testing for genetic defects in dogs is not available yet, it will be someday, and by knowing what breeds of dog are in a puppy's ancestry, it can give the vet an idea of what kinds of health issues could develop in the future.
