I just got home a bit ago from visiting with Mom. My Sis said Mom's speech returned to normal around 2 PM, so that's great! She passed the Swallowing Test, and some kind of reading/comprehension test. No loss of motor function anywhere. They're still going to run the other tests in the next two days. She also remembers what she was doing up to the point of losing her speech, which was more than she could tell me earlier.
She'll be 92 in August. She looked good tonight, and sounded good. Keeping my fingers crossed that all continues to go well for her. She attends church, sings in the church choir, and attends a couple of exercise classes during the week. My Dad passed away in 1986. Since then she's lived in an in-law apartment attached to my sister's house. My sister is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), and monitors our Mother's healthcare.
My sis and I were adopted (unrelated) by Mom and Dad. I miss my Dad terribly, and I love my Mom dearly. I don't think I could have been placed with better parents! |
