For the sake of the original poster, let me phrase her question differently. What would you do in this situation if there were no vet around for hundreds of miles, or if it occurred 1,000 years ago when there were no vets? Would you stand around and b***h about watching the puppy die? The situation is what it is. She already SAID that she knows the best thing is for the puppy to be taken to the vet, but it's not going to happen. Help her out with some constructive advice, or don't say anything at all.
Here is my 2 cents: Keep the puppy warm and hydrated. A little Nutrical is fine, but the puppy will have to have some equivalent of it's mother's milk, which contains the proper balance of protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Unfortunately, I don't know a good substitute because I'm not an expert in puppy pediatrics, and my heart bleeds for that puppy because people are not giving any practical advice. The name of this forum is Sick and Injured/Emergencies Talk, and it's sad that people are trolling this thread with snarky, self-righteous comments.
If it were me in this situation, I would plead with the relative to release the puppy into my care and take it to the 24 hour vet emergency clinic in my town, because like I said, I'm not an expert. Whatever happens, please let us know. |
