Yes, and here either, I haven't seen many ticks. It's pretty dry here, just like where you are. We were at the park a few days ago though, but just grass, no hiking or anything. But vet said it's not a tick. We have to wait and see for the biopsy results.

Yes Uni does crawl under the furniture when her ball rolls under there. She has been recently crawling behind randon stuff too when her toys aren't even there. I caught her behind one of the shelving units at the shop yesterday. She had to army crawl underneath the entire length (the long edge) of a bike in a box to get back there; but for what I have no idea.
But it wasn't a scab. It was def underneath the outer layers of skin. It was several layers down.
