Do a simple Google Search for Debbie Jensens videos and website on whelping and preparing for same.

Labour signs should be delineated out there. Or conversely you could do a simple search in this forum, for this and other questions you might have.

It does sound like with only a whelping box as the sum total of your preparation other than puppy food, you have a long way to go to prepare yourself.

If this is indeed true, may I highly recommend you let the vet whelp the pups and or get in touch with a whelping coach. There are simply too many situations to try to cover them all in about 6 days for you to absorb all this information.

How to find a whelping coach? Start with your vet and see if she has any referrals for you. Search out your local toy breed club association, obedience club, or even a local Yorkshire Terrier association, or a more general breed club association; and beg for help!

Added to the response on whelping supplies, is get a small scale, pups will need to be weighed daily. Also directions to the vet preprogrammed in your GPS. You need a heating lamp as well. Startt getting in your supplies now, and also for your family. You will need to be with these pups 24/7 for at least the first week. So make up food for you and your family and freeze it.
Keep your car at full gas levels etc from now until at least one month from now.

I do hope for lots of luck in this whelp for your bitch and her puppies.
