Also once a day episodes doesn't really fit MVD/LS. If this occurs before breakfast, than the only thing would be a change in his position from sleeping to getting up. Excess fluid in the skull would be moving around from changes in gravity as he changes his position. Small changes throughout the day may not bother him as much.
Does he have any trouble putting his head down to eat or drink? If yes, try elevating his bowls a bit: a folded towel would do it.
