1st, congrats on the new puppy. Nutrical is basically sugar and is good to treat hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. It can also increase appetite, but it does this by creating a elevated glucose, then when the pup makes insulin to treat the elevated glucose, he (in theory) eats something to get his glucose back up as the increased insulin levels decrease the glucose. If you give pup nutracal and don't follow it with some protein, it will do more harm than good. The name is misleading. It isn't really nutritious in that it can be used as a substitute for food...it can't. Please use it in sparing amounts and follow with some kibble or canned food. Good luck with Joey, and this site is full of folks that can answer your questions, although it is not a substitute for your vet in the case of an emergency. Please review the stickies about when to seek emergency care. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-articles.html Welcome to YT!
