Yes, if the female is not spayed and in heat the neutered male will try to tie and could possibly hurt himself, do not allow neutered males alone with unspayed females, it can cause serious injury, although no pregnancy will result. If the female has be spayed, then it's more of a dominance thing and they won't try to tie, but they will hump without any danger.


I am told he also lifts his legs to urinate and supposedly doesn't "mark territory" inside, but does outside.

This is what Joey does and it's very common, especially if the male has been around other dogs.
