I would try and make the short journey in his car ride as stress-less as possible too, no loud music on the radio etc, no road rage, LOL, and talk gentle to Joey so that he doesn't build a fear of travelling in the car. Sadly little Trixie will hide if she is aware that we are going somewhere in the car and I put that down to her bad start in life and getting transported to the SPCA and then back and forward foster home before we adopted her
