I was having a very difficult time getting Barney to eat. When I got him he was off the growth charts and then, at around 4 pounds he just quit growing. I mentioned it to the vet when he was 14 weeks. My vet said not to worry he was just running off the calories. I went back last week which was more than 6 weeks later and he hadn't gained an ounce. My vet put him on hills diet prescription canned food. It is high calorie and since then he has put on 3 tenths of a pound. Thank goodness. I don't think he is going to be the 8 pound dog we originally planned on, but he is adorable and looks much healthier. He is eating his dry food better now, also. I had tried every kind of food suggested. I guess the lesson I learned is to keep trying until you find the one that works. I cannot even describe how much more active Barney is now that he is eating better.
