Finally something that's working. While today is the last day he needs drops I came up with a plan that works. Before I take Ruger out in the morning I switch out his collar and get him to jump up on the bed to do it. He always lies down when I switch his collar, so now I've got him down with my hand on his collar. I just grab the drops while holding him down and he seems to put up with it, no treats no nothing.
My plan is to do this with the cap on the dropper until he is completely calm so the next time there will be no problems.
I urge all of you, especially all the new moms and pops out there, to play with your dogs ears, paws, teeth and anything else you can think of while they are pups to get them used to being handled by you or the vet if need be. |
