International Flights I fly to and from: Charlotte, CLT; Washington DC DCA; Orlando, MCO; St Martin SMX; London, Gatwick in the United Kingdom.
My dog is a service dog so my experience might be a bit different. He is a medical alert dog.
If you plan to take a pet on board an International flight you will need to do a bit of research into the requirements at your arrival destination. Normally, with me, the check in agent will check your documents, health certificate etc., and she/he will verify with your arrival airport that you have everything needed for your dog to land. They don't want to let you on if you won't be able to get off at the other end. Make sure you leave plenty extra time for this.
If you can tell me which country/countries you will be going to, and which airline you plan to use, I can get you the exact correct and current information. A lot of what you'll find on the internet is outdated, and laws have changed. Many airlines will not transport pets in the cabin at all on International flights and some won't even transport pets at all in the summer, not even in the hold because they are not able to regulate the temperature while on the ground.
The first time we flew internationally I felt I was teaching the airline staff the law. I had to stick up for myself and my Yorkie! He is so cute people can't imagine him being useful too |
