Hello Milou! Welcome to Yorkie Talk. First of all, I wanted to say "thank you" for adopting this sweet baby and giving him the chance to live out his senior years loved and safe. You are such a kind and wonderful person. I use to have a senior Yorkie that was missing her teeth. We would add water to her kibble and store it in the refrigerator. I would make enough for two days at a time. Good quality, canned food, is also an option. Your vet should be able to help you determine if he needs a senior food, based on whether he is chubby or lean, and how active he is. Bloodwork can also tell you if he may need a high or low fat diet, depending on how his old kidneys are functioning. Oh, and my sweet Lucy was deaf as well. We taught her sign language (we made up our own signs) for potty, eat, sit stay, etc. At night I would flip the lights off and on to tell her I was home, or get her attention. It was perfectly fine living with a deaf dog. Just be mindful not to come up behind the dog and pick him up quickly. It will startle him badly. I did this to Lucy a few times, and it really seemed to upset her. We hope you'll post pictures of your new addition soon. Best wishes to you both!
