I think I had the same problem you are describing having difficulty finding the picture files when doing certain things. My non tech solution was to put my files on my desktop where I can find them easily.

Ah we think alike. I just did that. But I have to transfer each file separate. When I transferred the entire photos file/library the same thing happened. Very frustrating.
I did he system restore and still have same problem. Ugh !!
