Thanks Lynzy! I plan on doing that! I want Ohio laws changed! Too many mills and BYB here!

I'm sure Cinders was from a BYB. I went to the farm in Amish country to pick her out after searching the internet from puppies near me. I think I went through a broker, he said it was his niece, and he was Mennonite - had electric, cell phone, but no computer. Not being Mennonite myself, I didn't know what modern technology they are allowed to use. I also didn't know BYB ers used the internet to sell, or used brokers, not until I joined YT. When I got there, a male dog was running around- a yorkie. I thought he was her dad. I didn't see the mom. There were still males in the litter, so I thought she was with them somewhere...He said he kept her and the other pups in a large shed just off the driveway by his house. It looked nice- newly built, nice screen door, a air conditioner in the window, and a fenced area beside it, I didn't think anything about it except that it looked so nice.

I made my deposit and was planned to come back for her in 2 weeks- when she would be 9 weeks old. Never saw the mom, only her sister. Cinders liked me. She snuggled and kissed me and the sister didn't want anything to do with me, so she was mine from that 1st meeting.

On the final visit, I asked to see the parents, but was steered to a different discussion about shots and hypoglycemia... what to do and such.
Then, after I made the deposit, he started saying the male I saw was his next stud, and he had 20 females! I said something about that's a lot of dogs, and he said he was restarting, he used to have more!

On the way home, I said that place wasn't right. It wasn't what I considered to be a mill,(at that time) it seemed nice, but the amount of dogs this guy was talking about was like a mill. Now I know it was a BYB!

Cinders has always had low sugar issues... she might have others problems too. I won't know until this summer when I try to get her spayed. On her 1st visit to the vet- 2 days after we got her, she had ear mites- the worst case the vet had ever seen, a infected rash on her belly, and an eye infection! She was put on 3 meds to help her, and I was asked where I got her from by the vet! A question no one ever asked me when I had other dogs! That made me look into mills, and that's how I found YT- from discussions here about mills, back yard breeders, and hypoglycemia.
I want that guy to stop what he's doing, and anyone else from doing the same thing and selling pups like this. I will be making contact with the places Lynzy suggested and finding out what I can do to help shut these places down. I figure if I don't try, then I'm adding to the problem cause I know what happens in them and I'm letting it continue without fighting!
