I know you mean well, but be careful about the extreme agendas of the ASPCA, HSUS, possibly any organization with SPCA in its name, and PETA. There have been excellent animal welfare laws on the books for at least 40 years, everywhere, but they've been loosely and selective enforced, thus allowing bad breeders to flourish. HSUS, ASPCA, PETA and the like are now pushing for laws that are also crushing the responsible breeders. The bad guys always seem to find a way around the law. Protect the animals, by all means, but make sure you're also protecting the good breeders, otherwise you're a few short years away from no longer being able to obtain a purebred dog anywhere. Read the AKC Government Affairs section of their web site. Look up your state's Federation of Dog Clubs and Responsible Dog Owners, look up National Animal Interests Alliance. Those people are trying to shut down the offenders without destroying the good breeders.
