My moms are on puppy food always from the time they go into heat but often they stay on it between heat cycles if I plan to breed them next heat cycle..I feed cottage cheese, yogurt, boiled chicken, added crushed oyster shell..basically, I vary the diet to keep my mom eating well..
I do not give milk to them but some do give goat's milk. I keep goat's milk Esbilac on hand..freeze the liquid in ice trays, after it is frozen dump it into a plastic bag and take out a cube and give it if I think she/they are not eating what I consider a good diet.
