I would think that as long as the vibrissae was there it would transmit whatever signal (vibration) it senses to the nerves it serves, and so would also still 'sense' the vibrations of a storm approaching. Plus, I know that cats have vibrissae that are not referred to as whiskers in other locations all over their bodies...many more than just the facial whiskers...so trimming all the vibrissae on a storn sensitive cat would be a huge chore with them and possibly leave you shredded.

But, you brought up an interesting point that I was thinking about...just from quite a different 'angle' however.
