When Max was 14 weeks old, he had a temporary problem after a vet manually retrieved a stool sample. Our breeder recommended peas. I used frozen baby sweet peas, heated them in a little water in the microwave and let them cool. He was 3.2 ounces, and I gave him half a teaspoon at dinner.
The peas gave him the firmness and bulk he needed to express his glands naturally. He has never had them manually expressed since that time. I stopped giving him the peas at about 1.5 years old.
