Thank you all for your kind words and hearts. It means so much to me, and you reminded me again why I remained a part of this community for two years, even without a dog in my life. It was much longer than we had planned to wait, but we were waiting for a time that we could take care of a little one the way he/she deserves to be treated. Knowing the love and care that my husband gave to our other babies at the Rainbow Bridge, I knew it would be so difficult for him not to be able to get to and care for a little one if he/she needed his help. After eight prior back surgeries and an arm that he still needs surgery for, we were afraid to get another pup just yet. Jackie and Gail jumped at the moment when I said I wondered if we could care for an older pup. Gemy calls it serendipity because, just as I expressed this, our breeder had just told her that she was considering retiring Katie. Gemy and Jackie convinced us to see that we would be able to give Katie the care and love she deserved. Because I am unable to be far away from home in case my husband needs me, our breeder tried to enlist the help of her show friends who might be traveling closer to my home. We waited almost three months, and still no one was traveling with their pups to a show even remotely close to me. Jackie knew how desperately we wanted Katie, and she decided to make the trip herself. Nothing would deter her from her decision, and I tried, particularly when she badly injured her back just two weeks before the long drive to Canada. Listening to Gemy speak about our little girl, I had fallen so in love with her, and we would have been so heartbroken if something happened and we were unable to get Katie. Whatever she told our breeder was enough for her to entrust her precious Katie with us, and I am so grateful to all three of these special women. When I look at Katie, I am reminded of the love that brought us together and the dear friends I have because of YorkieTalk. I love being able to share photos of my little girl with you, and I appreciate all that you have said about our precious Katie. |
