Hi Pauline and welcome. Glad you got sorted with the new vet, the prices sound average to me so hopefully you won't need to see them to often.
My Alfie get mucous in his stool from time to time,usually when he has been eating something out of the ordinary ! I usually give him some boiled chicken and rice to settle his stomach and it seems to help, but it does no harm to gt it checked if you are worried.
