The problem with this mite that causes this skin condition, is ALL dogs have the mite...it is only when the immune system is undeveloped or immature or stressed, like it can be with pregnancy, or flawed, that the mite will make an appearance. A momma that has this, can have a litter of puppies and maybe only one or two from the entire litter will be affected, so it is not something that can be predicted....when those babies immune systems mature, the mites and the problems they cause will disappear back into the hair follicle.....but if the pup has an immune system that is weakened or flawed, this can be an issue for the life of the pup.
