At the very minimum, the breeder should offer a money back at 72 hours after you get the dog. But, a "reputable" breeder will give you a lifetime guarantee against any "genetic" health problem. (Like hip dysplasi)- This means that the breeder has done the necessary testing on the dog, and that at the very least, you have some peace of mind that the breeder did their best to make sure the dog is healthy.

Also, a reputable breeder should offer on their contract to take back any puppy for any reason- ever! They should be willing to rehome that puppy- even if you decide at 7 years old you can't care for it, etc These reputable breeders do their part to keep dogs from going to shelters and rescue organizations. They understand that they are responsible for that puppy form the minute it's born until it takes its last breath.
