Need pictures, but this is how I "do collars" whether on doggie duds or on people clothes... 1) Sew the collar and lining together, leaving the entire bottom open
2) Turn collar - use a collar turner to be sure that it is turned all the way out and steam press to flatten - open bottoms of the collar and lining should match
3) To make it easier to attach, machine baste the bottom of the collar - the side that you will be sewing to the garment
4) Mark center of the collar and center back of the garment
5) Pin the collar to the dress right sides together - matching center backs, and starting at center back and baste
6) Pin the lining to the dress/collar unit - right sides together and sew as you normally would, leaving the same space for turning
7) Turn the collar right side out and make sure the collar is even and there aren't any puckers.
8) Turn the garment back to wrong sides out and carefully trim neck seam
9) Turn right side out and press
10) Admire your lovely dress/harness/etc. with a perfectly and centered balanced collar |
