Wow, thank you all for such good advice. My mentor did tell me to hold them during the tie(s) and also about lubricating the male (she does these things as well). So, I think I'm ok with that part. I see what you mean, though, having ME as a novice, my girl as a virgin, and the stud in my home. Doesn't sound like a recipe for a successful breeding. But I feel pretty confident about the process.
I just didn't want to miss THE day, ya know? My girls actually "flag" quite frequently, even when they are not in heat. I do remember, though, during their heat cycles, they were much more sensitive to the touching. |
