And he was so frustrated because he really WANTED to be there and he would sit like 10ft away and whine, but not come in. He would start to get over it and then something would happen where my brother would accidentialy barely touch it with his foot (it made a small squeaking noise) and then he'd be terrified again. We finally just got rid of it.

I swatted a fly one time and now he's absolutely terrified of that. To the point that if he sees a bug inside, he will go slink away and go under the bed because he thinks I'm going to smash it. I have not killed a bug with him in the room in years, but he still can't seem to forgive and forget.

Yes. He's a quirky one.
Huey is the same way about anything that has fallen near him; he will skulk around the object forever without getting close enough for said object to attack him. We have had to move several things to storage, like a painting we had leaned against the wall that he sniffed and it fell. He was also chasing his squeaky pig one day and it had an errant bounce and knocked something off the table. He avoided the table for weeks when chasing his pig!. As for bugs, though, he loves them. He loves to chase them, catch them, roll in their remains, and (apparently) vomit them back up...yyeeechhhhhhh
