Before you have a full blown flea infestation, get her on a flea prevention, such as Revolution, which also will prevent heartworm. Heartworm is deadly especially in a small pup and is transmitted through an infected mosquito bite.
Wash all of her bedding and yours if she sleeps with you, and vacuum everywhere you have carpeting. You can treat your yard with Diatomaceous Earth, the pup can also be treated with this....make sure it is food grade.
This stuff will kill the fleas. I used it last year in my yard as well as Revolution...not one flea after about two weeks.....I had a full blown infestation....three yorkies and at the time three cats! They were miserable and so was I...fleas don't care who they bite...human or animal, its all food to them...found that out when I got bitten. That's how I found out I had fleas...had to ban the animals from the bedroom until I got it under control!
