I picked up my Bella's food and water an hour before bedtime at 8 weeks of age (at the recommendation of Yorkies for Dummies to reduce her need to potty in the night) and she was always fine the next morning. She weighed 2.1 pounds at 8 weeks and weighed a whopping 3 pounds at 12 weeks, so she is healthy on that feeding regimen. Of course, she's a healthy eater. If you have a picky eater, things might be different...

Oh, she had an issue with mild hypoglycemia during her first week in her new home, but that may have been due to the stress of adjustment. We treated her with Karo syrup during her episodes (2 episodes in total) and she recovered quickly. Now she is a healthy, bouncy puppy. If you have issues with hypoglycemia, that might be another reason to keep food and water available during the night...
