I myself would prefer something colorful, nothing to bold not to feminine or girly looking, definitely no ruffles. I think a collar would look good on a boy outfit and maybe some cool patches (skulls, guitars, vintage military looking).
My fella doesn't wear clothes so I rarely look for boys clothes. I am however going to be trying my hand at making a boy vest/shirt something for my DD's / FB's Yorkie. Im not sure yet what I will do until I sit down to do it. DD picked out a handkerchief material and I have some jean material left so I'll see what I come up with.
