“Allen County Dog Warden's Office"
Hi all of our Facebook friends. Just wanted to let you all know why we haven't posted adoptable dogs..... we don't have any right now! Rescue groups have been able to take our adoptable dogs and we are very grateful they have the room because we have started our tag compliance checks.
Every year we print a list of people that haven't renewed their dog license, then we try to call as many as we can to see if they still have their dog. If they do we encourage them to get it within a given time. If they choose not to, then they can receive a citation or have their dog impounded or both. While out doing our compliance checks we are checking surrounding houses as well.
This year due to the recent events, dog attacks, and dog bites, dogs without licenses, (stray or owned) are being impounded. Owners are all given information on how to claim their dog(s). The goal is to keep the public safe and be able to identify dogs if they should gets (sic) loose. If you don't already have your dogs license please do so asap. You can purchase it on line, at the Auditors Office web site, in the courthouse or at our facility.
Thank you to everyone who already has their dogs licensed. If you have any questions please contact me at the office, 419-223-8528.”

Myself I dont have no worries, my dogs are alway tags every year and on time. But can you imagine the local warden knocking on your door and dragging your poor confused family pet off to doggy jail until you come up with the money to bail them out. What is wrong with this city?
Total disgusting down right ridiculous I can see this from several view points that have been brought up during blog discussion
There are those who have dogs and who can support their needs in every way and who get tags for their dog regardless because its the law.
There are tons of families who at one time were doing pretty well that now struggle to provide for their families do to the economy
Than you have those who are already collecting gov. ass that knowingly choose to bring a dog into their already low income families. Who do not vaccinations purchase tags for their animals.
There are so many issues that can be the cause of why someone has not purchased tags for your dogs. Mostly due to income restraints. I can understand putting food on the table, paying the rent and bills over purchasing dog tags.
I can understand:
Dont pay your rent, get out.
Dont pay your water bill, dont bath.
Dont pay your gas bill, freeze.
Dont pay your car loan, walk.
But, Dont pay your Dog Tags fees, get your dog seized !!
Failure to pay does NOT give the law man/city on Lima, Ohio the right to seize these animals and hold them for ransom, adopt them out or worse even euthanize them.
