Buster had a bad case of kennel cough when I first got him. It continued for weeks. He had started improving and the Vet decided he was well enough to get one of his vaccinations, sorry I don't remember which one, but that caused him to get worse and he verge on pneumonia and he ended up having to stay overnight for a few days on IV antibiotics to deal with it. This all has to be so emotionally and physically exhausting for you I am so sorry. I would get my bathroom all steamy and then take Buster in for a while and that seemed to help him when he was hacking/heaving. It's so hard to see them sick. I would definitely let your vet know and maybe they might want to add other medications to help fight the kennel cough. Sending prayers and hugs.
