Our rescue just had 5 puppies. We got a rott/shepard mix at 5 weeks. Then a 2 boxer mix and 2 chix/ lab mix( yes I know). The rott got sick pretty quickly at 9 weeks of age. Then of course the others. All made it which really surprised all of us although as soon as the first was diagnosed we had the others tested and they were treated quickly. With good vet care you have a very good chance. I know how worried you are. My Niko is just 5 months old and I was terrified of bringing it home. Talk to your vet about what you need to do to disinfecte. Parvo can live a long time in the environment. Some say months, some say years. I err on the side of caution. They also shed the virus for 3-4 weeks after treatment. Good luck, a prayer for both of you. |
