A good vet checkup will rule out or identify any medical issues. Beyond that, their hair continues to change for the first 2 years. Three of my 4 pups had thicker puppy fur, that thinned out, then became fuller and more silky between 1-2 yrs. old. One is a full Yorkie, and the other 3 are Morkies (Maltese/Yorkie mix).
A good quality puppy food should supply your pup with the necessary nutrients for a healthy coat.
