 Anal Gland Sacculitis
Anyone go through this w/their fur butt? If yes, what course of treatment was done/ needed? After treatment, did it reoccur? I searched YT & only found my thread & 1 post from years ago w/not much info. I'm understanding that this happens to older small breed dogs...
Mimi might have this, she's still very agitated & her behind is bothering her. We saw the vet yesterday & Mimi's anal sacs were emptied internally, 1 side was full & the other was very pasty. There was no infection & no blood from what the vet could see from the emptied contents & vet suggested laser therapy treatment (which has good results)...or anti-inflammatory shot. Earliest I can take her back is on Sat if she doesn't improve.
Vet said diet doesn't matter & Mimi is getting enough fiber in her diet, her stools are always compact & firm. Reading online & they say basically the same thing, unfortunately there's no prevention & dietary management is rarely of any benefit. |
